Tuesday we rode 3 of the top 5 roads in Canada (I don't know who rates these things, but the MC guide said so, so it is true). Twisty, curvy roads mostly along long lakes, under bluebird skies. Stopped for coffee at a little inn in Naksup with a deck looking out on a beautiful lake. Took a ferry ride across another lake. Stopped for lunch in a cute little town, again on a deck looking out over a beautiful lake (where we got to watch firefighting planes swoop in and through the mountains ). The day ended at an historic old hotel in Nelson, an adorable little hippy town.

Banff to Revelstoke
First day on the bikes, rode 350 km through absolutely beautiful country from Alberta to British Columbia. Day started a bit chilly at a damp 50 degrees F, but warmed up to the low 70s after we got to the west side of the mountains. Took a few detours to see glacier lakes and an amazing waterfall fed by glacier runoff. You could smell the cedar forests the whole day. Tourists were annoying, but it's easy to flee from them on bikes!
Banff or Bust!
Good news: all the connections and surprises went off without a hitch. Pat and Pete rode 900+ miles in rain and hail, but arrived safe and soggy in Banff on Sunday. The look on Doug's face was priceless when they showed up at our table at the Irish Pub.
